Click here to see descriptions and vocal ranges for the different principal roles.
If you wish to be considered for a principal role in the show, we ask you to perform a song of your choice. It need not be from the upcoming show or even be a G&S number. Select something, preferably in English, that you think best demonstrates your singing abilities.
IMPORTANT: PLEASE BRING A COPY OF THE SHEET MUSIC FOR YOUR SONG, FOR OUR ACCOMPANIST.
We will also ask you to sing scales to further determine your vocal range.
You will be asked to read dialog for the principal role(s) in which you are interested. And, at the discretion of our director, you may also be asked to read dialog for other roles for which you might also be considered.
When you arrive at the audition, check in with the person at the reception desk. If you have already completed an audition form, hand it in at the desk. If you have not already completed an audition form, please complete one and turn it in. Please also pick up the additional handouts that are at the reception desk. Auditioners will be called in the order that they check in.
In one of our early rehearsals our choreographer will show you, and others joining the show, some basic dance movements timed to go along with music that she has selected . Grouped with other cast members, we will ask you to perform the movements you were shown so that we may assess your ability to understand and perform those basic dance moves in time to the music. This is helpful information for our choreographer and director when putting together choreography and blocking for the show.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO JOIN OUR MEN’S OR WOMEN’S CHORUS
Whether or not you have performed with us or a similar group or choir before, as long as you can carry a tune you do not need to audition with us to be in our men’s or women’s chorus. At our first rehearsal we will have you sing scales so that we can determine your vocal range.
If you have decided to join our men’s or women’s chorus, please send us an email to let us know. email: jfreedman@snet.net, musdent@aol.com, telling us that you intend to join the chorus, and that you will be coming to our Sunday evening rehearsals at Congregation Adath Israel in Middletown. starting July 14th, 6PM.
